The History Of Golf.

The exact history of golf is unclear. Arguments have been going on for generations about when and where the game of Golf began.

Some people believe that Golf came from the Roman times, where players would hit a ball stuffed with feathers. This game was called “Paganica”.

Other people claim that golf can be traced back even further to China to the time of 200 B.C.

“Ket Kolven” was played in Belgium and Holland in the 1400′s. Players used to hit a ball similar to the size of a tennis ball with a “Kolf” toward a marker that was hammered into the Ice.

The game of Golf began in Scotland in the 1400′s where players used to hit stones into a hole.

The first documented use of the word “Golf” was in 1457, when King James II banned golf because he thought that it interfered with Archery practice, which in his opinion, was a better sport because it helped the Scottish people defend themselves in Battle.

There is a misconception that the word Golf is an acronym for “Gentlemen Only – Ladies Forbidden”, but this is not true. Most people believe the word Golf comes from the word “Gowfe”.

But who invented Golf?

Some people believe that since the Scots had strong trading ties with Belgium and Holland, that they based their game on “Ket Kolven”.

But the most popular golf history belief is that Golf was invented by the Scots, and “Ket Kolven” was… Read the rest

The history of golf has roots deep in the history of man since for the past five hundred years they have at some point or another taken a stick to a ball or rock. Thus making it difficult to determine just when the sport was created and put a timeline to golf history. So exactly who is credited with inventing golf and developing golf history? Well, it was really a collaboration of a number of countries and the efforts of many men hitting objects with a stick. Understandingly, with such a wide description of how the game was developed it left it wide open for everyone to claim ownership. So basically everyone has laid claim to originating the game and contributing to the history of golf. Scotland may be the most prominent along with China, Italy, England, Belgium, Holland and France. So while the Scots may be most regarded as developing the game there is no clear title holder. Some theories claim that shepherds first started the game by hitting rocks across fields as the tendered their flocks while others believe that fishermen created the game as a means to pass time during dry spells.Of course there are many other forms of the game that have taken place in and throughout the world and they each included a ball and stick. The Chinese used to play a game as far back as 300 BC that involved beating a ball while the ancient Romans and Celts also had similar… Read the rest

A memorable golf trip in china

By , March 27, 2011 12:04 pm

Kunming Spring City Golf Course is known as China’s most beautiful golf course and the best golf course in Asia. Last August, some of friends knew we would take a trip to Li Jiang for summer vacation and they highly recommend us go to Spring City golf course to enjoy the playing pleasure,so we added two days trip to Spring City golf course. And we really  found golf and travel can be the perfect combination.

There are 36 holes here, they are 18 mountain course  holes and 18 lake course  holes. Except for the amazing natural beauty such as mountains ,clear lake water, pine forest, the most pleasant is comfort temperature of about 20 degrees and tender green grass. Friends said when they played TaylorMade Burner SuperFast driver in a course with such a beautiful lawn, you can not bear to destroy the turf, therefore, scores increased by several shots. For us, in such a smooth and comfortable space to swing callaway ft-iz driver, feeling numerous challenges. The original handy Titleist titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select KOMBI Putter performed ineffectively and encountered daunting bunkers. Some bunkers are hanging ladder here, let you down, standing inside, as if in the valley, and can not see.

The green, must rely on imagination to play Callaway FT-iZ Fairway Woods.

Do not forget to go to Jade Dragon snow mountain golf course, the only one snow mountain golf course in asia,… Read the rest
